Stock controller

Description

Our client in the FMCG sector is seeking to onboard an experienced Stock Controller who will be responsible for managing stock movement in and out of the depot, ensuring accurate inventory control, and maintaining smooth stock operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, good reporting skills, and a proactive approach to inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all stocks are properly organized and stored in the warehouse.
  • Verify the quality and quantity of all incoming stocks.
  • Communicate product status and stock movements to relevant departments promptly.
  • Undertake timely and accurate stock purchases from approved suppliers.
  • Process and present invoices for stock purchases and customer returns.
  • Supervise and coordinate stock loading and offloading activities with sales representatives.
  • Ensure all dispatch trucks are accurately and promptly loaded.
  • Maintain standard stock levels by initiating timely and precise ordering processes.
  • Coordinate with the ordering team to ensure optimum stock levels are maintained.
  • Confirm and verify all supplier deliveries against purchase orders.
  • Manage and execute supplier returns accurately and within set timelines.
  • Validate all stock requests leaving the depot based on approved loading sheets.
  • Perform daily stock reconciliations—morning and evening—to ensure accuracy after sales.
  • Ensure all daily sales and dispatches are recorded in the organization’s ERP system.
  • Confirm that customer orders are fulfilled accurately as per the delivery receipts.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date records for all stock movements.
  • Ensure all suppliers leave the depot with duly signed delivery notes and receipts.
  • Conduct daily physical stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Prepare and share comprehensive daily stock reports.
  • Support the development and enforcement of warehouse safety and operational procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong computer literacy and experience working with ERP systems.
  • Excellent data entry and report preparation skills.
  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in a busy FMCG or warehouse environment.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Integrity and accountability in handling stock records.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
