Job Purpose

The Storekeeper is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining inventory of food, beverages, operating supplies, and other hotel materials. The role ensures accurate stock records, proper storage practices, and efficient inventory management to support hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Store goods safely and in accordance with established inventory management procedures.
  • Issue stock to departments based on approved requisitions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using manual and electronic inventory systems.
  • Conduct routine stock counts and participate in monthly and annual stock takes.
  • Monitor stock levels and report reorder requirements promptly.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principle where applicable.
  • Identify slow-moving, obsolete, damaged, or expired stock and report accordingly.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and security of all storage areas.
  • Prepare inventory reports and reconcile stock variances.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, Kitchen, and Food & Beverage departments to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and inventory control procedures.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Stores Management, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g. KISM) will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in a similar Storekeeper position within a reputable hotel or resort.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and stock control procedures is essential.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong inventory management and record-keeping skills.
  • Good numerical and analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of stock control procedures and warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management software.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • High level of integrity and accountability.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift and move stock safely where required.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Inventory accuracy.
  • Timeliness of stock issuance.
  • Reduction in stock variances and losses.
  • Compliance with inventory procedures.
  • Accuracy of stock records.
  • Efficient stock replenishment.
  • Proper housekeeping and organisation of storage areas.
