Systems Developer

Job Summary

To design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and production-ready software solutions that support Sanlam Life Insurance Zambia’s digital transformation and operational efficiency. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality applications, system integrations, and automation solutions while ensuring alignment with IT governance, security standards, and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and production-ready software solutions aligned with business requirements
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, and product owners to translate requirements into intuitive and efficient user experiences
  • Develop, test, and deploy high-quality applications ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability
  • Write clean, well-documented, and well-tested code following established engineering standards
  • Participate in code reviews and uphold development best practices across the team
  • Debug and resolve complex issues across application layers, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
  • Contribute to system architecture design, technical roadmaps, and solution planning
  • Develop and maintain APIs, integrations, and automation solutions across business systems
  • Identify and advocate for improvements to development processes, systems, and tooling
  • Ensure all solutions comply with security standards, IT governance, and regulatory requirements
  • Work closely with support teams to support deployment, monitoring, and system performance
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to junior developers where applicable
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications and experience

  • Certificate in GCSE Twelve (12) or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years in software development or systems engineering

Proven experience in:

  • Application development and System integration
  • Development of enterprise-level solutions

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C#, Java, Python, JavaScript)
  • Full Stack Developer
  • Experience with API development and integration (REST, SOAP)
  • Database management experience (SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDb)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Microsoft Azure)
  • Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git)
  • Experience with Laravel framework
  • communication skills both oral and written.
