Male Suit Tailor – Job Description

A Male Suit Tailor is responsible for creating, altering, repairing, and fitting men’s suits according to customer measurements, style preferences, and company quality standards. The tailor ensures all garments are professionally finished, comfortable, and meet client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Take accurate body measurements for clients.
• Design, cut, sew, and assemble men’s suits, jackets, trousers, and waistcoats.
• Perform fittings and make adjustments to achieve the perfect fit.
• Alter and repair existing garments as requested by customers.
• Select and work with different fabrics and materials suitable for men’s suits.
• Operate sewing machines, cutting tools, pressing equipment, and other tailoring machinery safely and efficiently.
• Ensure all garments are completed within the required timelines.
• Advise customers on suit styles, fabrics, colors, and fitting options.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, finishing, and garment presentation.
• Inspect completed garments for quality control before delivery.
• Keep accurate records of customer measurements and orders.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the tailoring workshop.
• Manage fabric and tailoring material inventory when required.
• Stay updated with current fashion trends and tailoring techniques.

Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience as a tailor specializing in men’s suits.
• Strong sewing, cutting, and garment construction skills.
• Excellent knowledge of fabrics, patterns, and suit designs.
• Ability to perform detailed hand stitching and finishing work.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Creativity and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of modern and classic men’s fashion trends.

Education and Experience

• Certificate or training in tailoring, fashion design, or garment construction is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in suit tailoring or custom clothing production preferred.

Working Conditions

• Work may be performed in tailoring shops, fashion houses, clothing stores, or production workshops.
• May require standing for long hours and handling sewing equipment daily.
