Role Summary

The Team Leader – Asset Finance will lead the Asset Finance team in driving business growth, managing client relationships, and ensuring the successful delivery of asset financing solutions. The role is responsible for achieving sales targets, maintaining portfolio quality, supervising relationship officers, and ensuring compliance with the company's credit policies and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will provide leadership, coaching, and operational support to the team while identifying new business opportunities and strengthening customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Portfolio Growth

  • Lead the Asset Finance team in achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual business targets.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the asset finance portfolio.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to increase market share.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with individual and corporate clients.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities for other financial products and services.

Credit & Portfolio Management

  • Review and recommend asset finance applications in accordance with company credit policies.
  • Monitor loan portfolio performance and ensure high portfolio quality.
  • Follow up on loan repayments and support delinquency management initiatives.
  • Ensure timely loan disbursement and proper documentation.
  • Minimize portfolio-at-risk (PAR) through proactive monitoring and client engagement.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and coach Asset Finance Officers to improve performance.
  • Set performance targets and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Organize sales meetings, field visits, and team coaching sessions.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on customer satisfaction and results.
  • Support staff training and professional development.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Provide excellent customer service throughout the lending process.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve escalated issues promptly.
  • Build long-term relationships with clients, dealers, suppliers, and strategic partners.
  • Conduct customer visits to strengthen business relationships.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, lending procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct portfolio reviews to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure all lending documentation is complete and accurately maintained.
  • Promote responsible lending practices and operational integrity.

Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare regular business development and portfolio performance reports.
  • Monitor team productivity and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate client and portfolio records.
  • Support management with business planning and forecasting.

Other Responsibilities

  • Represent the company during business meetings, exhibitions, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Build partnerships with motor vehicle dealers, equipment suppliers, and other business partners.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Economics, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications in Credit Management, Banking, or Sales are an added advantage.
