MAWASCO was incorporated in July 2005 under the Kenya Companies Act Chapter 486 and became operational in December the same year when it signed a Service Provisional Agreement (SPA) with Tana Water Services Board (TWSB) now Tana Water Works Development Agency (TWWDA) in line with the Water Act 2002.
Job Purpose
To ensure efficient and effective water production for distribution.
Responsibilities or duties
- Ensuring effective and efficient maintenance of water quality through routine proper removal and disposal of all debris and fallen leaves at the screens/strainers
- Ensuring effective adherence to the established maintenance schedule for the dam, other structures and relevant storage tanks in liaison with the supervisor
- Ensuring timely removal of floating matters in the dam and intakes including water weeds
- Ensure proper and effective protection of all the structures at the dam through daily monitoring and reporting on all security issues through the supervisor
- Ensuring timely reporting of any encroachment and interference by external parties/entities including the surrounding community
- Ensuring proper and effective distribution of water from the dam
- Ensuring timely and economic repair of any leakages or breakdown in the relevant distribution system and raw water mains in liaison with the supervisor
- Ensuring regular monitoring, reading and proper recording of raw water bulk meters
- Ensuring timely and effective dosing of chlorine as directed
- Ensuring proper care and safety of all issued tools and equipment and full accountability of requested/issued materials and labour/casuals
- Ensuring regular patrols of raw water mains and reporting of any leaks/burst
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Certificate in water supply/plumbing/Non-Revenue Water Management from a recognized institution, Trade test certificate in plumbing Grade III or an equivalent;
- Basic computer skills
- KCSE Certificate D+ minimum
Experience needed
- At least one (1) year relevant experience in a reputable organization
