JOB DETAILS:
TITLE: Temporary Literacy Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:
HIAS seeks to recruit an Adult Literacy Teacher who will offer basic education to refugees in the Safe House on temporary basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Offer basic education to refugees: focusing on basic literacy in English Speaking and writing skills.
• Provide training using a curriculum jointly developed by the Centre Coordinator, the MHPSS Associate and the incumbent with modules on the approved literacy skills programs suitable for adults.
• Determine beneficiaries’ progress on use of literacy skills.
• Conduct assessment for new arrivals to determine their class of admission.
• In liaison with other departments, assist in the organization and facilitation of capacity building activities for beneficiaries e.g., workshops, trainings, or information dissemination.
• Prepare periodic and progress reports on the above-mentioned training services.
• Attend periodic staff meetings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have a Diploma in Education
• Background in English and Literature
• Basic working knowledge with computer applications
• Experience in community-based training and adult training.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of human rights doctrine and working experience with refugees and displaced persons will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP)
• Knowledge in Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)
