Lightline Training Centre (LTC),is implementing the NYOTA OJE Social Emotional Skills Development (SESD) Programme on behalf of the State Department for Youth Affairs and the Creative Economy (SDYACE). The programme aims to equip young people with essential social and emotional competencies, leadership, communication, employability, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digital literacy, and life skills that enhance their personal development and economic participation. To support programme delivery in Wajir County, we invite applications from qualified, passionate, and experienced individuals to join our team as SESD Trainers.
Position
Trainer – Social Emotional Skills Development (SESD)
Duty Station:
Wajir County
Applicants must either be currently residing in Wajir County or be willing and able to relocate and work in Wajir County for the duration of the assignment.
Responsibilities or duties
- Delivering the approved NYOTA SESD curriculum using participatory and learner-centred approaches.
- Facilitating classroom and practical learning sessions for youth cohorts.
- Maintaining accurate participant attendance, assessments, and training records.
- Providing mentorship, guidance, and learner support throughout the training period.
- Preparing lesson plans and ensuring timely completion of all training modules.
- Submitting daily and weekly programme reports through the designated reporting systems.
- Working closely with County Coordinators, Master Trainers, and Monitoring & Evaluation teams.
- Ensuring compliance with programme policies on safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection.
- Promoting an inclusive learning environment that supports women, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
Qualifications or requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- A Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or higher qualification in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Community Development, Business, Entrepreneurship, ICT, Youth Development, or a related field.
- Previous experience facilitating youth, community, TVET, NGO, government, or adult learning programmes.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deliver interactive and participatory training sessions.
- Good report writing and record-keeping skills.
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Trainer of Trainers (ToT).
- Experience delivering life skills, employability, entrepreneurship, psychosocial, or youth empowerment programmes.
- Experience working with government, donor-funded, NGO, or development programmes.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child/adult protection principles.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of Somali or other local languages spoken in Wajir County will be an added advantage.
- Residence within Wajir County or familiarity with its communities and context.
