Talent Trail HR is hiring on behalf of a client in the tea business for the position of Truck Driver / Tea Sales Person. The company has been exporting tea and is now expanding into the local retail and distribution market, with a strong focus on growing sales within the Ukambani region.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Truck Driver / Tea Sales Person will be responsible for transporting tea to various outlets, promoting and selling the company's tea products, building strong customer relationships, and supporting sales growth in the assigned market while ensuring safe and efficient delivery of goods.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive the company truck safely and responsibly to deliver tea to retail outlets, distributors and customers.
- Load, transport and offload tea products according to delivery schedules.
- Promote and sell the company's tea products within the assigned market.
- Identify, approach and follow up on potential customers, retailers, distributors and market contacts.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support repeat sales and market growth.
- Conduct regular field visits to existing and potential customers.
- Achieve agreed sales targets and contribute to business growth.
- Collect customer feedback and market insights and share updates with management.
- Prepare sales reports, delivery reports and customer updates.
- Ensure proper handling of products, sales materials and company assets.
- Represent the company professionally and positively in the market.
- Ensure the truck is well-maintained and report any mechanical issues promptly.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & KEY COMPETENCIES
- Previous experience as a truck driver, driver/sales person, field sales representative or in a similar role will be an added advantage.
- Fluency in Kikamba is mandatory, as the target market is within the Ukambani region.
- Must have a valid driving licence (Truck Licence - Class C1 or C).
- Must have experience driving trucks safely on Kenyan roads.
- Strong knowledge of the Ukambani region and routes will be an advantage.
- Strong communication and customer engagement skills.
- Good negotiation and sales skills.
- Self-driven, responsible, honest and trustworthy.
- Well-organized and able to manage time effectively.
- Comfortable working in the field and engaging customers directly.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physically fit and able to handle loading and offloading.
- Able to meet sales targets and reporting requirements.
