About Center for African Studies Visiting Fellowships
The purpose of the Fellowship is to provide Fellows with the opportunity to pursue independent researchm complete a major article or book, foster academic ties with existing UC Berkeley faculty and enrich the life of the Center by mentoring Mastercard Foundation Scholars during their stay. The Fellowship is one semester (four months) in duration, commences no later than Tuesday 19 January 2027 and is non-renewable.

Center for African Studies Visiting Fellowships Requirements
- Must reside in an African country.
- Affiliated with an African university, research institution, think tank, or NGO.
- Hold a PhD (earned on or before January 2022).
- Demonstrated potential to contribute meaningfully to their field.
- Preference for projects on youth, labor, livelihoods, mobility, displacement, technology, democracy, and futures.
