JOB DETAILS:

Overall purpose of the role:
Reporting to the Technical Lead Youth protection, the post holder will be charged with the following key responsibilities;

Responsibilities:
1. Charged with the Implementation of youth protection strategies in Kakuma camp and Kalobeyei settlement
2. Leads the Mentorship and Life Skills programme for young people (Male and Female) in Kakuma and Kalobeyei, as part of the youth mentorship programme
3. Conduct regular trainings for LWF incentive field staff to enhance their capacities on Youth protection and monitor use of knowledge gained during implementation.
4. Carry out regular monitoring of Youth activities being implemented at Kakuma camp and Kalobeyei settlement
5. Prepare and submit timely activity reports as per set donor guideline and timeline.
6. Create new and maintain existing collaborative linkages with program partners
7. Facilitate linkage with community based structures at Kakuma camp, Kalobeyei community and host community
8. Encourage good practice by promoting and championing Youth protection policy and procedures.
9. Keep abreast of developments in youth protection by liaising with the SGBV and safeguarding officers and attend regular Youth related trainings for prosperity of department.
10. Support in development of concept paper for new proposal and review of LWF documents as needed
11. Supports in developing links and relationships with partners, community groups, and other youth led organizations and potential employers for supporting young people’s progression.
12. Carry out any other assignment as requested by the Youth Protection Technical Lead.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Project Planning and Management, Community Development, Social Work or related fields
2. Proven experience of minimum 3 years working within a humanitarian and development programme.
3. Experience working in an international NGO will be an added advantage.
4. An impeccable professional standard of ethics as well as the willingness and ability to implement accountability activities within the LWF World Service essential.
5. Certification in Program Management or other relevant certifications an added advantage.

COMPETENCIES
1. Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, use of internet and email
2. Proven experience in Project Management within the humanitarian sector.
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including influencing negotiation and pragmatism.
4. Excellent analytical, facilitation and documentation experience with humanitarian programmes.
5. Ability to liaise with a variety of people successfully and effectively in a multicultural set up.
6. Ability to work independently.
7. Fluent in written and spoken English.
