The Role

The Intern will support the program team in various aspects of program implementation and coordination. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain practical experience in the non-profit sector and contribute to meaningful health initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and organization of program activities.
  • Provide administrative support to the program team, including document management and correspondence.
  • Support in data collection, entry, and basic analysis.
  • Participate in program meetings and take minutes.
  • Conduct research on relevant health topics as assigned.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in public health and international development.
  • Good research and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and eager to learn.

Experience

No prior work experience is required, but relevant volunteer experience or academic projects will be an added advantage.

Benefits

This is an unpaid internship. AMREF Health Africa will provide a stipend to cover basic living expenses and transportation. Interns will gain valuable experience and exposure to the public health sector.
