Role Overview

The Accounts Clerk will support the finance function by maintaining accurate financial records, handling statutory compliance, and managing day-to-day accounting transactions using QuickBooks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in QuickBooks
  • Prepare and process invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers
  • Manage statutory deductions and returns including PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, VAT, and withholding tax
  • Prepare and file statutory returns within set deadlines
  • Reconcile bank accounts, debtor and creditor accounts
  • Maintain proper accounting documentation and filing systems
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Assist with audit preparations and respond to audit queries
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and statutory requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • At least 2–3 years’ experience in an accounts or finance role
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks is mandatory
  • Proven experience handling statutory deductions and compliance
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial controls
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting documentation
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
