The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) is a constitutional commission established under Article 59 of the Constitution of Kenya. Its mandate is to promote gender equality and the protection of the rights of women, men, and marginalized groups. The commission plays a crucial role in monitoring, facilitating, and promoting the implementation of constitutional and legal reforms on gender and equality issues.
Responsibilities or duties
The Assistant Director, Finance, Planning and Accounts will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, strategic planning, and accounting functions of the Commission. This includes developing and implementing financial policies, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and contributing to the overall strategic direction of the organization.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Candidates are expected to possess a relevant Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent are highly desirable. Strong knowledge of public financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, and strategic planning is essential. Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills are also required.
Experience needed
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, and planning, with at least 3 years in a senior management position, is required. Experience in the public sector or a similar organizational setting is an added advantage.
