Responsibilities or duties

  • The Assistant Editor will ensure that the publications meet the highest quality standards and adhere to the brand guidelines.
  • The editor will collaborate closely with authors, writers, and other team members to develop and refine content that resonates with the target audience.
  • Editing and proofreading manuscripts, articles, and other written content to ensure accuracy, clarity and coherence.
  • Analyzing editorial feedback and queries raised.
  • Editing and publication of school newsletters, academic journals, curriculum materials, and other publications.
  • Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clarity in all written materials.
  • Maintaining and enforcing editorial guidelines, ensuring content aligns with the academic standards.
  • Proofreading and fact-checking academic content, ensuring adherence to referencing styles and proper citation practices.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior editors, student writers, and other content creators.
  • Coordinating with designers and printers to ensure timely publication of print materials.
  • Staying updated on educational trends, curriculum developments, and publishing best practices.

Qualifications or requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Passion for literature, storytelling, and the publishing industry.

Experience needed

  • Proven experience as an editor in an academic, publishing, or school environment.
  • Experience working with digital publishing tools, CMS, and social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with academic referencing styles.
  • Experience in educational publishing or academic research.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional materials.
  • Familiarity with graphic design and layout tools.
  • Familiarity with style guides such as AP, Chicago Manual of Style, or MLA
  • Knowledge of digital publishing platforms and content management systems.
  • Understanding of copyright laws and intellectual property rights
  • Editing and publication of school newsletters, academic journals, curriculum materials, and other publications.
  • Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and clarity in all written materials.
