Background

Adept Systems is a Kenyan company established in 1994, providing a full range of management consultancy services in the areas of human resources. The Assistant Head of Processing Plant supports the Head of Processing Plant in managing SUVAC’s integrated operations. The role ensures effective daily execution across fish processing, fish meal production, and leaf drying, while assisting in implementing KPIs, operational systems, and process improvements. The Assistant Head provides leadership to supervisors, supports production planning, and contributes to scaling operations in line with Victory Farms’ mission of efficiency, quality, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Support and Stabilize Processing Operations

  • Assist in managing SUVAC operations (processing, fish meal, novel).
  • Supervise daily activities across processing functions.
  • Maintain floor presence to support execution and enforce standards.
  • Contribute to structured daily operations.

Support Performance Management and KPIs

  • Monitor KPIs (throughput, yield, costs, quality) under the guidance of the Head.
  • Assist in implementing daily tracking and performance routines.

Contribute to Improvement and Scaling

  • Identify inefficiencies and propose solutions.
  • Support initiatives to improve yield, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in trials and process improvement projects.
  • Assist in scaling operations in a structured, repeatable manner.

Collaborate with Production, Operations, and Support Functions

  • Support implementation of operational systems and processes.
  • Contribute to production planning and capacity management.
  • Coordinate with harvesting, logistics, and technical teams.
  • Assist in data collection and reporting for performance monitoring.

Qualifications and Requirements

Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Agribusiness Management, Food Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing, processing, or industrial operations.
  • Supervisory or mid‑management experience in food processing or industrial operations.
  • Strong operational and problem‑solving skills, with exposure to KPI tracking and performance systems.

  • Strong supervisory and team coordination skills.
  • Solid understanding of processing standards and compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication and reporting skills.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
  • Problem‑solving skills with a focus on operational efficiency.
