Background
The Geothermal Development Company (GDC) is fully government-owned company in Kenya's energy sector. GDC was formed in 2008 as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to accelerate the development of geothermal resources in Kenya. GDC is tasked with developing steam fields and selling geothermal steam for electricity generation to KenGen and to private investors. Geothermal steam is an environmentally friendly and abundant raw material used for generating electricity. The government and several development partners have been financing risks associated with geothermal exploration and drilling.
Job Specification
Duties and Responsibilities will entail: -
- Coordinating the preparation and implementation of terms of reference for outsourced services.
- Overseeing identification of the Company’s needs for equipment, security, and cleanliness
- Management and coordination of Office Administrators (Secretarial)
- Ensuring efficient provision of transport, security, and cleaning services in the Company
- Safeguarding the company’s assets including office premises, vehicle, office equipment and furniture through maintaining accurate and up to date records.
- Verifying assets for requisition, repair, maintenance, and disposal.
- Forecasting administrative staff needs for the Section.
- Guiding in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget.
- Ensuring prompt payment of administrative expenses; and
- Coordinating the preparation of periodic progress reports.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
- Cumulative service period of twelve (12) year’ work experience, three (3) of which should be in the Grade of a Principal Administration Officer or in a comparable position.
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Public/Business, Administration, Sociology, or any other relevant equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution
- Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Public/Business Administration, Sociology, or any other relevant equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution.
- Membership of a relevant professional body where applicable.
- Leadership Course not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Valid practicing license where applicable;
- Proficiency in Computer applications and;
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
