Background

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an operational arm of the United Nations, supporting the United Nations and its partners to deliver peace and humanitarian projects on behalf of governments and donors.

Responsibilities

The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical expertise in the procurement, installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment.
  • Developing and implementing training programs for healthcare professionals on the safe and effective use of biomedical equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant international standards and regulations for biomedical equipment.
  • Conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies for biomedical equipment.
  • Contributing to the development of project proposals and work plans related to biomedical engineering.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in biomedical engineering.
  • Proven experience in the procurement, installation, and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Strong understanding of international standards and regulations in biomedical engineering.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in English. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
