Business Development Associate

On a daily basis you will:

  • Chase your targets
  • Own the operations of our Business Development strategy, incl. building a partner network, organizing BD events, and more
  • Work closely with the Kwara Managing Director to execute the Business Development strategy as effectively as possible
  • Build and nurture relationships with key decision-makers (e.g., Board members, CEOs, PMs, Finance, ICT) using individualized outreach and follow-up
  • Cross-sell the member-facing & premium features on Kwara and get the SACCO’s buy-in to launch them
  • Negotiate fees for the new features and get contracts signed
  • Develop strategies to increase adoption of the launched features
  • Collaborate closely with Account Management for seamless handoffs, feedback loops, and retention support

Our interviews and case studies are designed to test you actively for this. You should only apply if you are ready for an intense interview process, including a take-home assessment and an in-person session at the Kwara House in Lavington, which requires preparation, role play and active engagement with our Managing Director and COO.

We also care about the below secondary requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 4 years of work experience in business development, sales, partnerships, or account growth in fintech, SaaS, or financial services
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and consistently deliver high-quality work. If you geek out on task/project management tools, then this is a job for you
  • Proven track record of closing deals, onboarding clients, or activating partners
  • Strong understanding of SACCOs, MFIs, or cooperative ecosystems in Kenya
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable engaging senior stakeholders
  • Strong data analysis skills
