JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Business Development Manager (BDM), the Business Development Officer (BDO) will undertake Business Development at the branch office. The Business Development Officer will create and plan business impact and development initiatives through member registration and relationship building by understanding the desirable qualities of the targeted groups and offering them the appropriate products and services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development functions
- In charge of business growth in the region to achieve the agreed set targets.
- Planning, organizing and attending/participating in educational forums to create awareness to the members, youth, churches, Pastors, Groups/House leaders, individual and corporate members to convert them as customers for the Kingdom Sacco.
- Mobilizing deposits from the members to increase liquidity.
- Coordinating the society’s community development initiatives as shall be communicated from time to time.
- Identifying the market segments to be targeted, register members and recommend appropriate strategies for outreaches.
- Ensuring that brand visibility of Kingdom Sacco is well enhanced.
- Identifying cross-selling opportunities at any point of customer interaction and seek to sign them up for Sacco products and services.
- Providing summarized weekly and monthly reports and updates on all business development activities and their outcomes.
- Attending and participating regular operations meetings and providing weekly and monthly reports for use by the management to make decisions.
Credit functions
- Receiving loan applications, verifying completeness and accuracy of the same. Appraise and providing recommendations to the credit department.
- Providing reports for consideration regarding loan rescheduling, restructuring and negotiation proposals from members.
- Actively monitor the performance of the loans at the branch level and following the repayment schedule.
- Scrutinizing delinquent accounts and implementing recovery measures after necessary notices to members as per Sacco procedures.
- Conducting approved member and field visits to monitor project/ Business performance and to determine the member’s financial position in meeting new or ongoing loan repayment obligations.
Operational functions
- Delivering personalized, effective and quality customer service through the whole process of membership registration.
- Supporting members to form groups/houses, allocating new members to groups /houses and spear heading member education for group management by attending their meetings as well as communicating the benefit they will derive from a group outfit.
- Preparing branch budgets in line with the work plan and submit to the BDM by June for decision making.
- Executing customer transactional needs and requests including change of static data, standing order maintenance, outward cheque processing, exit processing and other account operation needs.
- Responding to customer enquiries and providing requisite responses and solutions or re-directing their queries appropriately.
- Cultivating working relationships with members by attending to their needs; loan enquiries, loan restructuring and guiding them to select appropriate credit products.
Administration functions
- Identifying projects and opportunities for members by talking to members to understand their needs and conducting due diligence on the proposed projects and recommending for management’s consideration.
- Every quarter, undertake a performance appraisal process with the Business Development Team leader and sign the performance tool and proactively seek feedback.
- Planning and organising communication messages and emails for promotional, marketing, updates etc to members.
- In-charge of the overall branch Business development, Credit, Operation and Administration functions.
- Performing other related activities as may be directed by the BDM.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree /Higher Diploma in Business, Marketing and related fields.
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in a similar role within the financial services sector.
- Excellent customer service.
- Strong Analytical skills.
- Time management skills.
- Excellent communication, documentation and report writing skills.
- High integrity and ethical character.
- Proficiency in computer systems and Ms Office applications.
