The Theatre Incharge is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and optimization of operating theatre services. This includes overseeing daily operations, ensuring equipment and inventory readiness, enhancing team satisfaction, supporting surgical teams, and driving business development initiatives to improve the utilization and revenue of theatre services.
Patient Flow Coordination: Manages the movement of patients from admission to the OR, ensuring readiness for surgery and tracking progress. Staff Supervision & Management: Oversees nursing staff, assigns tasks, creates rosters, mentors, and conducts performance reviews. Resource Management: Monitors and orders medical supplies, drugs, and equipment to ensure the OR is well-stocked and functional. Patient Safety & Compliance: Ensures adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations, and maintains a safe environment for patients and staff. Liaison & Communication: Serves as a central point of contact between nurses, physicians, other hospital units, patients, and families. Technical Nursing: Performs direct patient care tasks, such as monitoring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with examinations, and performing basic procedures. Problem-Solving: Addresses and resolves issues that arise, including patient complaints, volatile situations, and resource shortages. Reporting & Documentation: Compiles reports, maintains records, and updates information, often using a visual display board to track the OR's operations.
Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, theatre equipment, and infection control standards. Experience in budgeting, inventory management, and business development in healthcare. Leadership and team management skills. Strong organizational and planning ability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Problem-solving and decision-making skills. Business acumen with the ability to identify and act on growth opportunities. Valid ACLS & BLS. Valid Practicing Licence.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Higher Diploma in Perioperative/Theatre Nursing. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in theatre operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
