Main Purpose of Job:
To facilitate experiential learning in the clinical setting by ensuring students are placed and receive learning support in the various facilities. The holder of this post will report to the Coordinators of Programs in the execution of his/ her duties and will contribute toward meeting the key performance indicators and targets of the department, and the overall mission and vision of the university.
Responsibilities or duties
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Teaching and supervision, direct instruction, and guidance to students in a clinical setting
- Support curriculum implementation and aligning clinical experiences with learning objectives.
- Organizing and scheduling clinical placements, rotations, and evaluating student performance and progress during their clinical placements.
- Provide an orientation for students to clinical sites, including schedules
- Coordinating with relevant officers to initiate MOUs with facilities for clinical placement of nursing students.
- Ensure prompt payments of clinical assessors
- Supervision and provision of practical instruction (skills and procedures) for students in the skills lab and the clinical setup
- Stocktaking and ensuring all supplies are available for skills practice in the skills laboratory.
- Monitor student progress to ensure stated objectives are adequately addressed and met
- Conducting formative and summative clinical assessments.
- Academic advising of nursing students.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for nursing students
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications or requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Valid practice license
- Membership of a professional body
Experience needed
Experience:
- At least three (3) years of professional experience at a recognized and busy hospital.
- At least one (1) year of teaching experience at a university/college
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team
- Demonstrate high level of integrity
- Demonstrate marketing capability
