Position Summary

"PC-Kenya is seeking a skilled and proactive Communications Officer to lead the development and implementation of strategic communication initiatives that enhance the visibility and use of its research. The Officer will work closely with research and technical teams to translate complex scientific findings into accessible, impactful communication products tailored to key stakeholders, including policymakers, donors, practitioners, and the public. This position plays a vital role in strengthening the organization's profile and ensuring that PC-Kenya's evidence informs policy and practice at sub-national, national, regional, and global levels."

Key Responsibilities

1. Communications Strategy Development

Lead the development of a comprehensive communications strategy in collaboration with senior staff and researchers to promote the dissemination and use of research findings.

Provide strategic guidance and technical support to ensure integration of communications and dissemination activities into program design and implementation.

2. Visibility and Engagement

Identify and leverage opportunities to increase the visibility and influence of PC Kenya's research with relevant audiences.

Collaborate with research teams to align communications activities with program objectives and external opportunities.

3. Communication Product Development

Lead the conceptualization, development, and production of targeted communication materials (e.g., policy briefs, success stories, infographics, social media content, research highlights).

Work closely with research staff to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and relevance of content for diverse audiences.

Design and implement dissemination plans for communication products using a mix of digital, print, and in-person channels.

4. Event management

Conceptualize and manage events to share / promote research findings, including webinars, stakeholder briefings, and media engagements to share research findings.

Work with partners on joint events and engagements.

5. Representation and Stakeholder Engagement

Represent PC Kenya in relevant national strategic forums and meetings that promote research uptake and evidence-informed decision-making.

Build and maintain relationships with communications leads and key stakeholders in government, NGOs and donor agencies. Build and maintain relationships with key media covering topics relevant to PC Kenya's research.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Journalism, Strategic Communications, Media Studies, or a related field is strongly desired.

At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in communication within an international non-profit or research organization.

Demonstrated ability to translate scientific research into clear, engaging content suitable for policymakers, donors, media, and other stakeholders.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong portfolio of communication products.

Proficiency in digital communications, including social media management, email campaigns, and website content development.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Knowledge of graphic design, photography and video editing software is an added advantage.

Legally authorised to work in Kenya.
