The Role

We are looking for a Communications Strategist to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya. The Communications Strategist will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to support Crisis Action's campaigns and advocacy efforts. This role requires a creative and strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a passion for social justice.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated communication strategies for Crisis Action campaigns.
  • Create compelling content for various platforms, including social media, websites, press releases, and reports.
  • Manage and grow Crisis Action's social media presence.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists.
  • Monitor media coverage and public discourse related to Crisis Action's campaigns.
  • Provide communication support to Crisis Action teams and partners.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and make recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing communication strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in social media management and content creation.
  • Strong understanding of media relations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of current affairs and global crises.
  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector is an advantage.
