The International Rescue Committee is a global humanitarian aid, relief and development nongovernmental organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
In carrying out this overall function, the officer will:
- Screen and assess incoming complaints to determine appropriate course of action.
- Draft investigation related documents and communications, including investigation plans, witness statements, and supporting materials.
- Conduct interviews with complainants, subjects, and witnesses in accordance with established procedures.
- Identify, collate, and analyze potential evidence to support investigation findings.
- Prepare comprehensive investigation reports and present findings and recommendations.
- Support and follow up on the implementation of corrective action plans.
- Conduct system reviews in collaboration with relevant departments to identify compliance gaps.
- Monitor the implementation of risk mitigation measures and track progress.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely responses to compliance audit requirements and recommendations.
- Champion a culture of reporting on ethics and compliance concerns, including client responsiveness.
- Support partnership management by reviewing and evaluating partner processes from a compliance perspective.
- Review partner agreements and contracts to ensure alignment with IRC policies and procedures
- Design and facilitate training sessions that promote a culture of integrity, ethics, and compliance.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science e.g. Criminal Justice/Criminology, sociology, law, finance or a comparable field.
- Five years’ experience
- Proven ability to analyze data to report critical information.
- Strong planning, organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate information accurately, clearly and swiftly.
- Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing, in English and Kiswahili.
- Excellent analytical, presentation, and reporting skills.
- Ability to respond to changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently on own initiative
- Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
- High level of integrity, professionalism, self-motivation and sense of urgency
- Strong commitment to IRC’s mission, purpose and values.
