ABOUT THE ROLE

The Deputy School Principal, in partnership with and in the absence of the School Principal, shall be responsible for the following key areas:

Vision and Leadership

  • Execute daily school operations while supporting the community in achieving Nova Pioneer’s mission, vision, and instructional model.
  • Craft, articulate, and implement a compelling short- and long-term vision for the school’s culture and program.
  • Lead strategy development, goal setting, and performance tracking to exceed targets.
  • Generate Growth Maps for the team, assign weighting, and ensure alignment with the 3Cs.
  • Establish and maintain a strong school culture consistent with Nova Pioneer’s core principles.
  • Foster a vibrant school environment where students and staff feel challenged and engaged.
  • Build strong relationships with parents and address their concerns proactively.
  • Manage teaching, learning, and academic outcomes for all learners.
  • Oversee student affairs, behavior, and culture.
  • Lead the school leadership team, teachers, and support staff using the Managing the Nova Pioneer Way framework.
  • Plan and support the implementation of Open Days, academic events, and parent-centered activities.
  • Create marketing opportunities to drive enrollment and reduce attrition.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to ensure student and family retention.
  • Use feedback and data to drive school improvement.
  • Collaborate with Talent, Operations, Admissions, Marketing, Property, Collections, and Finance teams.
  • Lead teammate hiring processes for the school.

Organisation and Administration

  • Manage daily school operations, including timetabling and scheduling.
  • Oversee school activities and culture in alignment with teacher duty rotas.
  • Maintain effective data management systems (e.g., student records, attendance, behavior tracking).
  • Analyze and interpret internal and external assessment data to improve student performance.
  • Plan and analyze intervention programs for diverse academic subgroups.
  • Implement systems for report cards, MAP results, and behavior data sharing.
  • Manage the school’s operational and staffing budget with 0% variance.
  • Preside over the health and safety committee and ensure compliance with protocols.
  • Ensure school facilities, health, safety, and security meet Nova Pioneer standards.
  • Oversee campus hiring, people development, and HR-related matters.
  • Lead admissions, enrollment, and student retention efforts in collaboration with the Marketing team.
  • Support the gating of students with outstanding fees until balances are settled.

Teammate Development

  • Lead instructional, pastoral, and behavior management coaching for school leaders and teachers.
  • Develop Deans, Senior Residents, and Grade Level Leads to exemplify the Nova Pioneer model.
  • Ensure exceptional inquiry-based instruction, data-driven academic monitoring, and project-based learning.
  • Foster social-emotional learning, positive behavior systems, restorative justice, and student well-being.
  • Oversee attendance registers, substitute plans, and staffing during absences.
  • Create a supportive environment for learning and high achievement.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching, learning, and innovation across the school.
  • Facilitate collaboration among teachers across grade levels and subject areas.
  • Design and manage high-impact professional development for instructional, student affairs, and operations staff.

Parent Engagement

  • Create and implement a vision for parent partnership that fosters active involvement in student learning and growth.
  • Develop systems for regular parent feedback on student progress, behavior, and school environment.
  • Provide weekly updates to parents on academic programs, student well-being, and school news.
  • Conduct orientation for new students and parents.
  • Coordinate parent events, seminars, and open days.
  • Lead 1:1 and group parent meetings to improve student behavior and community culture.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for parent queries and concerns.
  • Manage family and student satisfaction surveys and leverage data for improvement.
  • Onboard new families and offboard exiting families.
  • Collaborate with Administrative and Admissions teams to track enrollments.
  • Manage termly gating for school fees.

Student Affairs, Behavior and Culture

  • Design, execute, and monitor behavior systems (PBIS) and incentives.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of the school’s behavior policy.
  • Develop and analyze systems for positive behavior, house and mentorship programs, and culture trends.
  • Address and document all infractions proactively.
  • Oversee discipline cases and chair the school-based discipline committee.
  • Maintain the highest standards of discipline and behavior.

Communication

  • Develop and monitor effective communication systems with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Manage all communication channels (e.g., newsletters, WhatsApp, Class Dojo, EdAdmin).
  • Communicate in a positive, friendly, and professional manner.

Operations, Health and Safety

  • Create plans for student health, safety, and emergency preparedness.
  • Conduct daily operational walkthroughs to ensure campus functionality.
  • Partner with the Operations Associate to maintain campus facilities.
  • Lead monthly safety drills, health and safety meetings, and risk assessments.
  • Liaise with security staff to ensure student safety.

Clubs, Sports and After School Programming

  • Design and implement data-driven, engaging after-school programs.
  • Oversee clubs and sports programs to ensure national and global competitiveness.
  • Conduct walkthroughs and provide feedback on program implementation.
  • Train, manage, and oversee Student Leaders.

Events and Trips

  • Create and monitor a vision for school-wide events, off-campus activities, and weekend programs that promote student development.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field; Master’s in Education Management/Administration is desirable.
  • TSC number and certificate.

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in a rigorous, high-expectations school setting, including instructional leadership roles (e.g., Dean of Instruction, Dean of Students, Deputy Head, teacher coach).
  • Experience as a Head of School is highly valued but not a prerequisite.
  • Proven track record as a highly effective teacher with expertise in inquiry-based teaching.
