Background

Standard Bank Group is a leading financial services group in Africa. We are looking for interns to join our Legal department.

Responsibilities

Conduct research on various legal issues, including contract law, labor law, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property. Assist in reviewing, drafting, and editing contracts, agreements, and legal documents (e.g., NDAs, MOUs, service agreements). Maintain and organize the legal document repository, ensuring all contracts are properly filed, tracked, and accessible. Assist in preparing legal briefs, case summaries, and documentation for ongoing litigation or dispute resolution matters. Support the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, licenses, and permits to relevant authorities. Review internal policies and procedures to ensure they are legally sound and align with current legislation. Liaise with external legal counsel, regulators, and internal stakeholders on legal matters, ensuring timely communication and follow-up.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Law or a related field. Strong research and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience

No prior experience required, as this is an internship program.
