Background
The National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) is a state corporation established under the Ministry of Devolution and ASALs. Its mandate is to establish and operationalize mechanisms for drought risk management and to coordinate the implementation of drought mitigation and management interventions in Kenya.
Responsibilities
The Director, Research & Data Informatics will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing the NDMA’s research and data informatics strategy.
- Overseeing the collection, analysis, and dissemination of drought-related data.
- Managing the NDMA’s information systems and databases.
- Conducting research on drought causes, impacts, and mitigation strategies.
- Providing technical support and guidance to NDMA staff and stakeholders on research and data informatics.
- Representing the NDMA in relevant national and international forums.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline.
- A PhD in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior management position.
- Proven experience in research, data management, and informatics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of drought management and climate change issues is desirable.
