JOB TITLE: DRIVER (CANTER TRUCK – 6 WHEEL)

NATURE OF JOB: FULL TIME

SALARY: KSHS. 25,000

JOB LOCATION: KIAMBU

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate the assigned 6-wheel Canter truck safely and efficiently for daily distribution activities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods to customers, distributors, and retail outlets.
  • Verify loaded goods against delivery notes/invoices before departure and confirm quantities upon delivery.
  • Assist in loading and offloading of goods, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage or loss.
  • Plan and follow optimal routes to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing fuel consumption.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections (oil, brakes, tires, lights, fuel levels) and report any defects immediately.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the truck at all times.
  • Keep and update trip logs, mileage records, fuel consumption, and delivery documentation accurately.
  • Collect proof of delivery (signed delivery notes) and return all documentation promptly.
  • Handle basic troubleshooting of minor mechanical issues and coordinate major repairs with management.
  • Adhere strictly to traffic laws, company policies, and safety standards at all times.
  • Ensure proper securing of cargo to prevent movement or damage during transit.
  • Report any accidents, delays, damages, or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
  • Support stock reconciliation processes by ensuring delivered quantities match dispatch records.
  • Maintain professional conduct when interacting with customers, clients, and team members.
  • Safeguard company assets, including the vehicle, fuel, and goods in transit.
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and use of protective gear where required.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Valid driving license (Class BCE or relevant category).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving Canter trucks.
  • Proven experience operating 6-wheel trucks is mandatory.
  • Experience in FMCG distribution is an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of road safety regulations and routes within Kiambu and surrounding areas.
  • Physically fit and able to handle loading/offloading tasks.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and integrity.
