Position: Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

Location: Tilisi – Limuru

Responsibilities or duties

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance for all machines and factory equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical and instrumentation faults and ensure timely repairs with minimal downtime.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and hygienic workspaces in line with food safety standards.
  • Train operators and technicians on machine handling, SOPs, and autonomous maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure tools, spare parts, and maintenance equipment are well managed and controlled.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Participate in OSHA, FSMS, and QMS compliance activities to ensure staff safety and product quality.
  • Support installation of new machinery and factory projects, including supervision of contractors.
  • Maintain utility systems such as power, water, air systems, chillers, and cooling towers.
  • Monitor and record energy usage and utilities consumption to support energy management initiatives.
  • Conduct facility inspections, SS audits, and housekeeping checks to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Track statutory compliance including stack emissions, effluent discharge, calibration of equipment, and inspection of pressure vessels and lifting equipment.
  • Support cost control by monitoring maintenance costs, utilities, spare parts usage, and repair expenses.

Qualifications or requirements

  • Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of machine maintenance, utilities systems, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems and troubleshooting electrical faults.
  • Understanding of SS, OSHA, food safety standards, and quality systems is an added advantage.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
