Duties
This position facilitates the expediting through immigration and security for arriving and departing USG personnel, TDYers and VIPs through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and other border entry points. They are required to maintain productive relationships with airport staff, customs and airline authorities ensuring trouble free transactions. Their duties include coordinating and assisting of VIP visits with expediting, airport customs clearance, pick up of passports and baggage and clearance through immigration. Facilitating POL/RA Officer’s vehicles at Kenya Revenue Authority for vehicle verification. Facilitate new or renew airport badges at Kenya Airport Authority as required. Expediter/Chauffeur requirements as required.
Expediting:
- Accompanies Embassy personnel and/or cargo, TDYers and VIP’s on arrival and on departure in Kenya, either at JKIA International Airport or at border points throughout the country and assists with expediting immigration and customs formalities for them.
- In all cases, pays particular attention to those who require special assistance (those with pets, excess baggage, lost luggage, flight delays/cancellations and arrival without valid visas). Ensures Embassy personnel, TDYers and VIP’s with VIP Lounge access are escorted to their appropriate lounges. For all VIP visits and in this capacity must foster good relations with airport officials.
- Ensures all travelers are transported to/from the airport from their perspective hotels or residences and coordinates motorcade vehicle readiness planning and execution during VIP visits. Drive official USG and Embassy owned vehicle in connection with above duties and in compliance and awareness of Security directives unique to the security situation in Kenya. Actively engage with the Embassy’s Regional Security Office and Motorpool experts during volatile situations to ensure safe and expeditious routing.
- Transport personnel and/or cargo to/from official meetings and/or events from the Embassy or residences. Required to be on-call for after hour pickups/drop offs. 90%
Vehicle Administration:
- For airport pickups, preparation will include printing out a name placard with the arriving passenger’s names, confirmation of points of contact (POCs), cell phone numbers, departure/arrival times and accountability, and issuance of local mobile phones.
- Contact POCs/the office when changes to the schedule occur or if a passenger does not show-up for pick-up or at arrival. Assists, when necessary, with the process of temporary and permanent airport passes at Kenya Airport Authority. Responsible for cash handling, conducting transactions with vendors, ensuring vehicle toll passes have funds and managing receipts as assigned.
- Facilitate POL/RA Officer’s vehicles at KKA for vehicle verification. Maintains liaison with working level officials of the customs and may be required to deliver documents to the Kenyan Customs and Immigration offices on an as-needed basis. Deliver and pickup official documents, invitations, packages etc. as required. 5%
GOV Maintenance:
- Coordinates with Motorpool to ensure GOV’s are serviced under ICASS receive routine maintenance, perform regular inspection of the vehicle, ensure vehicles have fuel and are cleaned inside/out. Collect mileage and track vehicle condition for reporting/metrics. 5%

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
- All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a Security clearance.
- All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam. Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
