An officer at this level shall:
- Plan farm operations, select profitable enterprise(s), and set income targets for each enterprise.
- Keep accurate records of livestock and/or crops to ensure the farm remains profitable.
- Manage the day-to-day and long-term operations of the University Farm.
- Supervise staff, monitor crops and livestock, and handle administrative tasks such as budgeting, purchasing supplies, maintaining vendor and client relationships, and maximizing profitability.
- Analyze operations, crops, livestock, staff, and financial documents to recommend profitability improvements.
- Prepare plans and schedules for livestock and crops, ensuring farm inputs are efficiently utilized and restocked.
- Schedule repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
- Handle the marketing and sale of farm products such as fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, and grains.
- Ensure staff adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with management to prepare budgets and financial reports.
- Build professional networks and stay updated on developments in agricultural science.
- Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment
A candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness and Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness and Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- At least six (6) years of relevant work experience.
- Training in Public Relations.
- Computer literacy.
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
