Job summary

The Fresh Produce & Ripening Officer will be responsible for managing the quality, handling, and ripening processes of fresh produce, ensuring optimal product condition from sourcing to dispatch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee receiving, inspection, and grading of fresh produce
  • Manage ripening processes (e.g., bananas, avocados) to meet market demand
  • Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with food safety standards
  • Implement proper storage, handling, and inventory management practices
  • Track and reduce post-harvest losses and wastage
  • Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and logistics teams
  • Maintain accurate records of stock, quality checks, and ripening cycles
  • Ensure hygiene and safety standards are adhered to at all times

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in fresh produce handling or ripening operations
  • Strong understanding of post-harvest handling and quality control practices
  • Experience with ripening techniques and cold chain management is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance requirements
