Verst Carbon Limited is recruiting short-term consultants and field personnel for a nature-based project in Kenya. These are part-time, assignment-based engagements, with roles expected to commence at various points between September and December 2026

Role Overview:

The GIS/Data Officer manages the spatial database and cartographic outputs, supporting the planning and analysis phases of the carbon inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

Stratification & Sampling Design:

Utilize Landsat, Sentinel, or high-resolution imagery to develop land-use/land-cover (LULC) maps and stratify areas for efficient sampling.

Plot Location:

Generate random or systematic sampling points and export them to field GPS units.

Spatial Analysis:

Conduct spatial analyses to estimate forest degradation, deforestation, and regrowth over time.

Database Management:

Maintain a centralized geodatabase for all inventory plots, boundaries, and carbon pools.

Map Production:

Produce high-quality thematic maps (vegetation types, carbon stock density, land-use change) for internal reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Data Integration:

Convert field-collected data (tabular) into spatial layers for visualization and reporting to the validation team.
