- RKJMS is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate General Practitioner (GP) to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis in Nairobi. The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive clinical care services, managing a wide spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions in the GP setting while providing patient-centered care. This role emphasizes excellence in clinical practice, patient education, and continuous quality improvement. The ideal candidate will be committed to advancing the health of our diverse community, upholding rigorous standards in clinical care and data protection, and contributing to the professional growth of our team.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Patient Management
- Comprehensive Consultations: Conduct thorough patient consultations, including detailed history-taking and clinical examinations, to diagnose and manage a broad range of conditions.
- Disease Management: Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, respiratory infections, and other common medical conditions, ensuring timely intervention and effective management.
- Preventive Health: Provide preventive care services including routine health screenings, immunizations, lifestyle counseling, and health education to promote community well-being.
- Continuity of Care: Develop and implement personalized care plans and follow-up strategies that ensure continuity and quality of care for patients across all age groups.
Procedures & Interventions
- Diagnostic Procedures: Perform and interpret basic diagnostic tests and procedures routinely encountered in a primary care setting.
- Minor Interventions: Conduct minor surgical and therapeutic procedures as necessary, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
- Referral Coordination: Assess when to refer patients to specialized care and coordinate with medical specialists at RKJMS and when indicated, partner institutions to optimize patient outcomes.
Training & Professional Development
- Continuous Education: Actively participate in Continuous Medical Education (CME) programs, workshops, and seminars to keep abreast of the latest clinical practices.
- Quality Improvement: Engage in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient safety.
- Community Health Projects: Contribute to community outreach programs, including medical camps, designed to improve local health outcomes.
Client Experience & Data Protection
- Patient-Centered Care: Ensure an exceptional patient experience by delivering empathetic, respectful, and culturally sensitive care at every interaction.
- Data Security: Rigorously maintain patient confidentiality and data protection in compliance with hospital policies, the Kenya Medical and Dental Council regulations, and applicable data protection laws.
Compliance & Ethical Standards
- Professional Practice: Maintain meticulous and accurate patient records, adhere strictly to clinical guidelines, and uphold the highest standards of professional ethics.
- Regulatory Adherence: Comply with all legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including those of the Kenya Medical and Dental Council.
- Safety and Quality: Champion patient safety and advocate for best practices in clinical care and risk management across the facility.
Job Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
- Licensure: Valid medical license and registration with the Kenya Medical and Dental Council.
- Additional Training: Certifications in ATLS, BLS and ACLS are mandatory.
Work Experience
- Clinical Experience: At least three (3) years post internship experience in the general practice, accident and emergency or ICU setting, managing a diverse patient population.
- Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a supportive work environment.
- Skills & Competencies
- Clinical Expertise: Excellent diagnostic, clinical, and management skills in general medicine.
- Communication: Superior interpersonal and communication skills, ensuring clear, empathetic, and effective patient interactions.
- Technological Proficiency: Proficient in computer applications and modern medical IT systems for efficient record keeping and communication.
- Professionalism: A strong commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, and excellence in patient care.
