The Kenya Youth Parliament for Water (KYPW) is a youth-led organisation established to mobilise, connect and empower young people across Kenya's 47 counties to advocate for equitable access to clean water, sustainable sanitation, and environmental conservation.

Responsibilities or duties

As a Grant Writer for the KYPW Grant Team, you turn strategic research into winning funding applications. Working directly with Grant Researchers and leadership, you will articulate KYPW's vision, draft compelling proposal narratives, build project Logical Frameworks (LogFrames), and construct project budget stories for global donors.

Qualifications or requirements

Demonstrated talent in technical writing, proposal development, storytelling, or communications.

Ability to translate community water and sanitation needs into structured project intervention plans.

High deadline sensitivity, self-discipline, and collaboration skills.

Proficiency with collaborative tools (Google Docs, Notion, Slack).

Experience needed

Commitment of 6–10 hours per week during proposal drafting cycles.

Any other provided details (e.g., benefits, work environment, team info, or additional notes)

Prior involvement in successful non-profit or community grant applications.

Experience drafting project monitoring & evaluation (M&E) frameworks.

Official Certificate of Proposal Leadership & Service.

Mentorship from experienced development practitioners and climate advocates.

  • Draft full grant proposals, concept notes, expressions of interest (EOIs), and donor pitch decks.
  • Develop project intervention logic, problem statements, target indicators, and Logical Frameworks.
  • Collaborate with finance leads to structure clear project budget narratives and activity breakdowns.
  • Tailor proposal text to match donor terminology, strategic goals, and compliance guidelines.
