Our client, a reputable and growing firm in the poultry processing industry within Nairobi, Kenya, has retained our services to recruit highly driven and hands-on HR Coordinator to assist in establishing and managing the full HR function.
This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a start-up environment and is comfortable operating as the sole HR resource, supporting the firm’s both operational -based and administrative teams.
Summary
The HR Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the full spectrum of human resource functions, ensuring efficient HR operations and effective implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs in line with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes including job postings, shortlisting, interviews, and onboarding
- Facilitate induction and orientation programs for new employees
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, HR databases, and personnel files
- Support performance management processes including appraisals, goal setting, and performance reviews
- Assist in identifying training needs and coordinating staff training and development initiatives
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan labor laws, statutory requirements, and internal HR policies
- Administer employee benefits, leave management, and payroll inputs in liaison with Finance
- Handle employee relations matters, including disciplinary processes, grievances, and conflict resolution
- Support implementation of HR policies and contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes
- Prepare HR reports, analytics, and documentation for management decision-making
- Monitor employee engagement initiatives and support organizational culture development
- Ensure proper documentation and follow- up on employment contracts, confirmations, and separations
- Prepare HR reports and provide advisory support to management
- Provide general administrative support to the HR function
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or any related field
- Minimum of three (3) years' relevant HR experience
- Must be a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) in good standing
- Sound knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices
- Experience in a start- up, poultry, or agribusiness environment is an added advantage
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Proficiency in MS Office and HR information systems is an added advantage
