Overview

The Head of Academics – Early Years is responsible for providing academic leadership and coordination within the Early Years section, ensuring the effective implementation of the curriculum and the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning. The role involves supervising and supporting teachers, monitoring lesson delivery and learner progress, coordinating assessments, and promoting effective teaching practices that support the holistic development of young learners. Job description

  • Provide academic leadership and direction for the Early Years section.
  • Coordinate and monitor the effective implementation of the school curriculum.
  • Supervise, support, and mentor Early Years teachers to enhance teaching standards and professional growth.
  • Monitor lesson planning, preparation, delivery, assessment, and record keeping.
  • Track and evaluate learner progress and implement appropriate interventions where necessary.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Ensure appropriate teaching and learning resources are available and effectively utilized.
  • Promote child-centred, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
  • Coordinate academic programmes, assessments, and activities within the Early Years section.
  • Work closely with teachers and school management to address academic and learner-related concerns.
  • Maintain high academic standards and ensure compliance with school policies and curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare and submit academic reports and provide regular updates on the performance of the Early Years section.
  • Support the professional development and continuous improvement of teaching staff.
  • Promote a positive learning environment that supports the holistic development of learners.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), Education, or a related field.
  • Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience, preferably in an Early Years setting.
  • Previous experience in an academic leadership, coordination, or supervisory role will be an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of Early Years curriculum, teaching methodologies, assessment, and learner development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate teaching staff
