Job Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the finance function, ensuring effective financial management and control across the business.
  • Lead cash-flow, working-capital and liquidity management, with a strong focus on inventory, receivables and payables.
  • Oversee monthly management accounts, financial reporting and performance analysis, providing clear insights to the CEO/owners.
  • Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections and business plans.
  • Strengthen financial controls, identifying and mitigating financial leakage, errors, inefficiencies and risks.
  • Oversee tax, audit, statutory compliance and financial reporting requirements.
  • Manage financial processes involving multiple suppliers, customers, currencies, imports and project-based operations.
  • Lead, manage and develop the finance team, ensuring strong accountability and performance.
  • Oversee the effective use of ERP/accounting systems and Excel-based financial analysis.
  • Provide commercial and strategic financial advice to the CEO/owners and challenge decisions where appropriate.
  • Support the business in improving profitability, cash generation and overall financial performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, controls and reporting as the business grows.

Other Requirements

  • 10–15+ years of progressive finance experience, with substantial experience at Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Head of Finance or similar senior level.
  • Proven experience in a large-scale trading, distribution, FMCG, retail, manufacturing or import business, preferably within a complex, commercially driven environment.
  • Strong expertise in working-capital management, including inventory, receivables, payables and cash-flow management.
  • Strong track record in establishing and maintaining financial controls, with the ability to identify and mitigate leakage, errors and financial risks.
  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting capabilities, including preparation of monthly management reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow projections and business planning.
  • Strong knowledge of tax, audit, statutory compliance and financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and develop a finance team.
  • Strong experience with ERP/accounting systems, together with excellent Excel and analytical skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the confidence to challenge management and provide sound financial advice.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to manage both day-to-day finance operations and broader financial strategy.
  • Experience managing businesses with significant inventory, multiple suppliers and customers, multiple currencies and working-capital requirements.
  • High level of integrity, trustworthiness, discipline and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated potential to grow into a CFO-level role.
