The Head of Student Affairs will provide strategic direction and operational leadership to the Student Affairs function, ensuring excellence in student welfare, engagement, discipline, and support services while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Student Affairs Office
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise Student Welfare Officers, counsellors, and student leaders
  • Drive student welfare initiatives, pastoral care, and support interventions
  • Oversee student discipline, behaviour management, and attendance compliance
  • Coordinate student activities, events, and co-curricular programmes
  • Ensure safeguarding, duty of care, and confidentiality standards are upheld
  • Act as the key liaison between students, trainers, parents, and management
  • Monitor and report on student welfare, engagement, and retention metrics
  • Champion a positive, inclusive, and student-centered institutional culture

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counselling Psychology, Social Work, Humanities, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant experience in student affairs, counselling, or educational administration
  • Proven experience in team leadership and managing student support services
  • Experience in a TVET or higher education institution is an added advantage
  • Training in counselling, safeguarding, mental health, or student affairs will be an added advantage
