Position Summary

HIAS Kenya seeks to recruit a Part-Time IT Associate who will provide technical support to staff in areas related to personal computers (PCs), PC-related hardware and software, email systems, mobile voice/data devices, and network and internet services on a need basis. The associate will support the administration and maintenance of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and related IT infrastructure, including servers, routers, wireless devices, and associated hardware and software.

Responsibilities

Technical Support & User Assistance

  • Provide first-level technical support to users on IT-related hardware, software, and systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to computers, printers, mobile devices, email, and network connectivity.
  • Support staff with the use of Microsoft 365 applications and other organizational software.
  • Provide IT orientation and basic training to staff and new technology users.

Systems & Network Support

  • Support the maintenance and administration of local area networks (LAN), internet services, and related equipment, including routers, wireless devices, and network connections.
  • Assist in monitoring the performance of IT equipment and systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Support the installation, configuration, and deployment of approved software and applications.
  • Assist with basic user account administration, including account creation, modification, and deactivation
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair hardware and software according to HIAS IT standards and global security requirements.
  • Provide guidance to users on the proper use of IT systems and best practices for information security.
  • Support compliance with organizational policies, including safeguarding and accountability requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience in an IT support or technology support environment.
  • Internship, volunteer, or part-time experience in IT support will be considered.
  • Experience working with an NGO or humanitarian organization is an added advantage.
  • Understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, software installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, wireless networking, and internet connectivity.
  • Knowledge of Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) principles.
  • Knowledge of Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) standards.
