About the Role

BURN is looking for an IT Officer to support and maintain IT operations at the factory site. The role will be responsible for ensuring reliable IT infrastructure, providing timely technical support, and supporting the delivery of key IT projects. The successful candidate will manage and troubleshoot systems, networks, and end-user devices while helping maintain a secure and efficient technology environment. Working closely with the broader IT team, they will contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement across factory operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain local IT infrastructure including servers, networks, and endpoint devices across the Kenya office.
  • Coordinate with the Helpdesk Manager to provide first and second-line technical support to all Kenya-based staff, resolving issues promptly.
  • Ensure network security, data backup, and disaster recovery procedures are in place and regularly tested.
  • Coordinate with the NOC Manager on system monitoring, uptime, and incident response.
  • Deploy and manage enterprise software, user accounts, and access permissions.
  • Support audio/video conferencing and collaboration tools for the office.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and provide procurement recommendations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and local Mozambican regulations.
  • Conduct basic IT training and orientation for new staff members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in IT support or systems administration
  • Strong knowledge of networking (LAN/WAN) and Windows/Linux server administration
  • Experience with cloud services such as Microsoft 365, Azure, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with IT security best practices and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Fluency in English required
