The Elgeyo Marakwet County Public Service Board recruits on merit, in an open and accountable process that reflects the face of the county.
Responsibilities or duties
Assisting in sourcing for appropriate high quality photographic content for a variety of County use; Documenting County activities and events through photography; Editing and dispatching high quality photographs for dissemination on diverse media platforms; Preparing relevant and high quality photographs for placement in print and digital publications; Improving photographic image quality using different editing methods; Maintain a database for County archived photographs; Collaborate with County departments to determine their photography requirements; Preparing props, lighting, and background to fit indoor and outdoor photography shooting; Act as director during County photo shoots; Maintains photographic equipment and accessories.
Creating layout designs using specialist software for organization website, social media platforms, posters, brochures, business cards and magazines; Design infographics for internal and external dissemination of information; Develop portfolio of graphic designs for County use; Combining images, colors, shapes and typography to create visual concepts; Designing organizational advertisements for publishing in local and mainstream media; Creating animated graphics for a variety of County purposes; Collaborate with organization departments to develop and execute creative concepts for brand identity and publicity campaigns; Design standardized corporate designs for use in promotional campaigns and events.
Assisting in sourcing for appropriate County information and communication content on video format; Capturing, editing and producing video content for County events and initiatives; Handling post production including selecting clips, adding transitions and applying effects, texts or images; Preparing and placing infomercials for placement on TV and Social media; Operating and maintaining video cameras on set and on location; Managing lighting, props, sound, and focus/exposure for video content; Shooting live coverage for County events for dissemination on social media; Collaborating with County departments on video projects planning and execution; Managing schedules and logistics for video shoots; Uploading finished video productions on County website and social media platforms; Preparing finished video content for dissemination to mainstream media; Assisting in development of communications and media strategies.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
For appointment to this grade, an applicant MUST have: -
- Diploma in any of the following; Mass media, Journalism, Mass Communication, media techniques, media studies, internal Relations, Communication or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C with a minimum of C+ in English or Kiswahili and C in any other relevant subject or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution
- Demonstrated professional competence
- Good oral and written communication skills
- A member of an industry related professional body
- Proficiency in operating video and audio recording equipment (DSLRs, Camcorders, drones, audio mixers etc)
- Skilled in video editing software e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar
- Familiarity with live streaming setups and tools is and added advantage
