  • Our client, a leading construction firm, is seeking a strategic and hands-on Interior Designer to play a crucial role in the planning, execution, and management of interior design projects focused on high-quality wood products, including doors, floors, kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, and related items. This role involves designing different interior designs as per clients’ preference and satisfaction, collaborating with clients, coordinating various project elements, supervising installations, and ensuring projects are completed with exceptional craftsmanship, modern designs, superior customer service, timeliness and within budget.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work closely with clients, architects, and other interior designers to understand clients design preferences, project requirements, specifications, and design concepts. Be the person of contact for the project.
  • Provide expert advice and creative solutions to enhance the function, safety, and aesthetics of interior spaces.
  • Incorporate client feedback into design plans and ensure alignment with their expectations.
  • Conduct site visits and assess the space to gather necessary measurements and evaluate feasibility.
  • Develop project plans, including scope, timeline, budget, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, procurement, and installation teams for projects success.
  • Maintain open communication with clients throughout the project, addressing any concerns or modifications.
  • Conduct site visits and meetings to understand project scope and gather client briefs.
  • Ensure design specifications are met and clients are satisfied with the outcome.
  • Plan architectural details based on client needs and design standards.
  • Interpret architectural drawings to generate accurate quotations.
  • Develop detailed design plans, including layouts, material selection, and color schemes.
  • Estimate and ensure adherence to budgets, costing, and timelines for projects, considering both production and installation phases.
  • Work with the production team to ensure that designs can be effectively manufactured and installed.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of interior design projects from concept to completion.
  • Supervise and manage project installations, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to design specifications.
  • Coordinate and work schedules, manage site supervisors, and liaise with subcontractors and vendors as needed.
  • Monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Handle change orders, modifications, and project variations as required.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure proper installation and address any issues or concerns.
  • Perform random checks on the production process, ensuring quality control and adherence to design specifications.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to align project goals, priorities, and best practices.
  • Implement performance improvement plans and provide constructive feedback as needed.
  • Ensure the team\'s adherence to project timelines, design standards, and quality control.
  • Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment.
  • Maintain open communication with clients throughout the project, serving as the primary point of contact for clients addressing any concerns or modifications.
  • Maintain positive client relationships by delivering high-quality work and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Manage client expectations and provide solutions to design or production-related challenges.

  • Develop project budgets and track expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, and financial documentation.
  • Monitor costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and manage project profitability.
  • Ensure that all interior design projects meet the organization\'s quality standards and design specifications.
  • Implement a rigorous quality control process to validate that design specifications are met during production and installation.
  • Conduct regular audits of completed projects to assess compliance with design and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain a repository of design standards and best practices for reference by the team.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance design and quality standards.
  • Oversee relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and adherence to quality standards.
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with key vendors and suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
  • Negotiate favorable terms, discounts, and improved service levels with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with procurement to optimize material sourcing processes.
  • Ensure that all interior design projects comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Regularly update knowledge of safety regulations and ensure that all projects adhere to them.
  • Conduct safety audits on project sites and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Implement safety training programs for the team to enhance awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, design innovations, and best practices to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
  • Attend relevant workshops, seminars, and training programs to keep abreast of industry developments.
  • Encourage team members to participate in continuous learning opportunities.
  • Implement innovative design solutions and techniques in projects to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Prepare accurate quotes, sales orders, shop drawings, and cut lists for production.
  • Create detailed project timelines and allocate resources effectively.
  • Generate comprehensive project reports, including evaluations and progress updates.
  • Prepare compelling and detailed presentations to communicate design concepts and project progress to clients.
  • Prepare labor output reports of daily work targets versus actual work done in line with program of works.
  • Prepare accurate payment schedules for subcontractors upon evaluation of their work by crosschecking work done on site.
  • Compile project evaluations, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the production team and all other departments to ensure that design plans are executed with precision.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by coordinating efforts between design, production, and installation teams.
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams involved in the project, including production, engineering, procurement, sales, and installation teams.
  • Work with procurement to source and requisite materials for projects and walk-in clients, ensuring timely availability.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure efficient utilization of resources.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in interior design, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an interior design project manager in a manufacturing or construction setting, preferably dealing with wood products.
  • Strong knowledge of interior design principles, wood materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Gantt Chart, Microsoft Teams) and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to the manufacturing of wood products.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
