Financial Analyst

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analysing current and past financial data;
  • Looking at current financial performance and identifying trends;
  • Preparing reports on the above information and communicating the insights of these reports to the wider business;
  • Produce regular reports using financial data, and work collaboratively with finance team to analyse the University business performance and strategy;
  • Consulting with the management team to develop long-term business plans;
  • Suggesting budgets and improvements based on the above information;
  • Assist in exploring different investment opportunities;
  • Developing financial models and providing financial forecasts;
  • Developing initiatives and policies that may improve financial growth.
  • Oversee all aspects of general office coordination;
  • Maintain office calendar to coordinate work flow and meetings;
  • Maintain condentiality in all aspects of client, sta and agency information;
  • Monitor and assist with maintenance of the Department’s Communications;
  • Interact with clients, vendors and visitors;
  • Answer telephones and transfer to appropriate staff member;
  • Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email
  • Prepare responses to correspondence containing routine inquiries;
  • Perform general clerical duties to include, but not limited to, bookkeeping, copying, mailing and filling;
  • File and retrieve organizational documents, records and reports;
  • Attend Board, committee meetings or other meetings as requested in order to record minutes;
  • Compile, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings;
  • Collect and maintain inventory of office equipment and supplies;
  • Support staff in assigned project-based work;
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Knowledge, Experience and Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Mathematics;
  • Must be a CIFA or CFA holder;
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar position;
  • Ability to determine the best use of resources to achieve business objectives
  • Experience with statistical analysis and nancial forecasting
  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify data patterns
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Abreast of industry updates
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to professional personnel in area of expertise.

Director of Quality Assurance

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct Quality Assurance Programmes;
  • Responsible for data collection of key strategic initiatives of the University.
  • Provision of leadership on the strategic direction for Quality Assurance for the organization;
  • Oversee the implementation of internal Quality Assurance with the collaboration of all function heads;
  • To ensure that CUEA policy on curriculum development is in consonance with the CUE (Commission for University Education) Guidelines for designing curriculum for University Academic Programmes;
  • To Coordinate the inspection of Academic Programmes and facilities by regulating bodies such as CUE;
  • To provide the link between CUEA and accreditation bodies (CUE, Inter-University Council of eastern Africa) on academic Programme development and harmonization of university education in the region;
  • Present regular reports to the Management Board on functioning of the CUEA Quality Assurance System and the performance of QMS; and advise on the areas of improvement;
  • To oversee the evaluation of Academic programmes for CUEA, Constituent Colleges and Aliate Institutions before presentation to CUE
  • Oversee budget development and implementation as the Chief Accounting Officer of the Directorate;
  • Ensure effective implementation of performance management system in the Directorate;
  • Promote University’ Mission, Vision and Core Values;
  • Perform any other duties appertaining to quality assurance as may be assigned by the Vice-chancellor.

Knowledge, Experience and Qualification

  • Should have a PhD or its equivalent;
  • Should have at least seven (7) years’ experience in Senior Administrative and Academic Leadership position;
  • Should be at least at the level Senior Lecturer;
  • Should be an outstanding scholar with a proven record in promoting ethical scientific research, quality teaching/learning and community service in the University;
  • Should have outstanding organizing, people mobilization and negotiating skills;
  • Should be customer oriented with a clear understanding of the University’s customers’ needs, preferences and interests;
  • Ability to offer leadership in higher education, quality promotion and assurance;
  • Evidence of in-depth and extensive knowledge of higher education and related quality assurance policies, processes and issues;
  • Experience in teaching in higher education;
  • Should have knowledge about the emerging trends, practices and policies affecting University education in Kenya and beyond;

Strategic Perfomance Management Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Special Advisor to the Vice Chancellor in developing, documenting, managing, and reporting strategy documents.
  • Assist strategic-initiative Project Managers report project performance.
  • Plan and manage own workow, anticipating obstacles, and juggling priorities.
  • Lead and facilitate the design and selection of performance measures that align to CUEA’s strategic direction prior to implementation.
  • Produce and maintain the quarterly, annual Corporate Strategic Performance Report and update performance dashboards for daily operations.
  • Coordinate strategic performance measure data collection, capture, analysis, reporting, and action planning.
  • Provide analytical capability to support deeper analysis of performance and organizational capability to support decisions about strategy adjustment and execution.
  • Prepare, maintain, and present the Corporate Strategic Performance Report and other strategy documents to the internal audiences.
  • Facilitate business processes identication, mapping, analysis, improvement and automation in support of achieving CUEA’s strategic goals.
  • Facilitate the identification of performance improvement initiatives that have high Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Represents the Special Advisor to the Vice Chancellor in meetings.
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the Supervisor from time to time

Knowledge, Experience and Qualification

  • 3+ years of experience in audit, finance, investment, or management consulting firms or 1+ years of management experience in strategy roles.
  • A master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or related fields.
  • Professional certification or experience in performance measurement (PuMP), balanced scorecard, project management (PMP), six sigma or designing operating models is an

  • High level of skill in consulting, presenting, communicating, influencing, and persuading without formal authority.
  • High level of skill in quantitative (statistical) analysis, and process design and analysis.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the current analytics software.
  • Ability to manage performance measurement systems within a large organization.
  • High level of skill in customer service in a consulting-style relationship.
  • Ability to teach or coach others to implement performance measurement and conduct performance conversations.
  • Must be a person of integrity with high moral standards.
  • Should be profficient in MS office applications
