  • Heritage vs. Non-Heritage Differentiation: Create parallel learning pathways—one for fluent/heritage speakers focusing on advanced composition and literature, and another for beginners focusing on basic communication and phonics.
  • Oral Tradition & Culture: Embed oral storytelling, riddles (vitendawili), and proverbs (methali) into lessons, ensuring cultural transmission goes beyond just grammar.

  • Community Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison with local East African diaspora communities, inviting guest speakers and organizing cultural days (food, music, dance).
  • Dictionary Skills & Orthography: Systematically teach students how to use Swahili dictionaries (both paper and digital) and navigate the standardized orthography (spelling system) set by the Baraza la Kiswahili la Taifa (BAKITA).
  • Curriculum delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with Cambridge standards.
  • Learner assessment: Design and administer assessments that evaluate learner progress, providing constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Classroom management: Create a positive, inclusive, and well-structured learning environment that fosters discipline and collaboration.
  • Holistic development: Integrate co-curricular activities and values to support learners' social, emotional, and moral growth.
  • Parental engagement: Communicate regularly with parents on learner progress, achievements, and areas of improvement.
  • Applicants must be TSC registered.
  • Have at least 5 years teaching experience - national or international curriculum.
  • Experience in teaching the Cambridge curriculum is an added advantage.
