Background

We are a Christian school in the education sector looking for an additional Kitchen Assistant. Assisting in the day to day operation of the kitchen under the supervision of the Head of Department - Catering, help in the organization with a view to optimal resource utilization, hygiene, safety, and general operation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ingredients preparations this includes (chopping, peeling, sorting, cutting, etc.).
  • Prepare and serve meals for learners, staff, and during events.
  • Ensure timely serving of all meals throughout the day.
  • Ensure there is a constant supply of clean and fresh water for cleaning, and cooking.
  • Participate in food preparation, and follow Head of Department - catering instructions on general kitchen operation.
  • Ensure a great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
  • Follow Head of Department - catering instructions on menus accordingly to ensure proper nutrition and healthy eating.
  • Ensure safe food storage and proper management of food and kitchen items in the stores and kitchen.
  • Check the quality of meal ingredients as per the day's menu.
  • Ensure removal of all food from the kitchen by packaging safely or managing waste to ensure safe and hygienic standards.

Requirements

  • Diploma/Certificate in Food production or catering.
  • 3 years' relevant experience.
  • Valid certificate of good conduct.
  • Valid food handler's certificate.

  • Computer Skills.
  • Creativity and problem solving ability.
