Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in receipt and processing of biological samples, storage and shipment of samples
  • Preparation of laboratory reagents
  • Ensure all specimens and request forms are accurately labeled before distributing them to the correct laboratory sections.
  • Maintain laboratory records and manage Quality Checks (QC) for all pre-analytical steps, including checks on supplies, equipment, and environmental conditions.
  • Participate in laboratory audits, monitoring visits, and Quality Assurance (QA) initiatives to ensure compliance and high-quality results.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of GCP/GCLP standards and adhere to all legal and research ethical requirements.
  • Track laboratory stocks and coordinate with teams for timely replenishment of consumables.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and secure workspace in full compliance with laboratory occupational health and safety policies.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Manager to support laboratory operations.

Vacancy Requirements:

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution, or a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technologist Mandatory
  • Must have an active registration and a valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB). Mandatory
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a busy diagnostic or research laboratory. Mandatory
  • Proficiency in computer applications Mandatory
  • Demonstrated high levels of confidentiality and integrity Mandatory
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation and communication skills Mandatory
  • Ability to build strong and diverse effective teams, Mandatory
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to deliver quality outputs within strict timelines. Mandatory
  • Flexibility, adaptability, multi-tasking and attention to detail Mandatory
