Responsibilities or duties
Duties at this level will include:
- Teaching and evaluating students; preparing schemes of work, lesson notes and lesson plans; Assessing students in clinical areas;
- Guiding and counselling students in academic matters;
- Supporting the designing and development health training needs; Developing guidelines for evaluation of health teaching materials for different health fields;
- Evaluating training programmes to determine their effectiveness and relevance with present and future health needs in the area of specialization; Implementing of competence based curriculum;
- Planning and organizing continuing education programmes for health workers in relevant areas;
- Conducting research in area of specialization, operational research and supervising students on research projects; and Participating in formulating and implementing new training strategies.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Bachelor of Science in Community Health and Development, Bachelor of Science in Community Health, or its equivalent;
- OR
- KMTC Higher diploma in Community Health and Health Promotion and practiced in their relevant field for at least six (6) years;
- Been registered with the relevant professional body where applicable;
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution;
- Proficiency in computer applications.
Experience needed
At least six (6) years of practice in their relevant field for those with KMTC Higher diploma in Community Health and Health Promotion.

The successful candidate shall be required to provide the following documents before the offer letter is issued, in compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010: Certificates of clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), and the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
