Responsibilities or duties
Duties at this level will include:
- teaching and evaluating students; preparing schemes of work, lesson notes and lesson plans; assessing students in clinical settings;
- guiding and counselling students on academic matters;
- supporting the design and development of instruments to assess health training needs; developing guidelines for evaluating health teaching materials across different health fields; evaluating training programmes to determine their effectiveness and relevance to present and future health needs in the area of specialisation;
- implementing a competence-based curriculum; planning and organising continuing education programmes for health workers in relevant areas; conducting research in the area of specialisation, including operational research, and supervising students on research projects; and participating in the formulation and implementation of new training strategies.

Qualifications
For appointment to this level, a candidate must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering;
- OR
- KMTC Higher Diploma in Medical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering (Diagnostic Equipment, Dialysis and Therapeutic Equipment) and practiced in their relevant field for a minimum period of six (6) years;
- Been registered with the relevant professional body where applicable;
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution;
- Proficiency in computer applications.
